I grew up in the mountains of Idaho as the son of two chiropractors and holistic health care advocates. Through my studies of Structural Integration, Visionary Craniosacral Work, Advanced Myofascial Techniques, massage, yoga, meditation, qigong, martial arts, psychotherapies, plant medicine and nature, my understanding of wellness and healing is ever present and continuing to grow.
I offer bodywork and teach yoga in Portland, OR and occasionally elsewhere. I will also be teaching Structural Integration bodywork at the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork in Kauai, HI in spring 2016.
Our bodies and beings want to return to balance and well being and will naturally do so when given the support needed. Meeting you where you are in body, mind, and heart, we are able to take steps together towards the change that is sought. As body opens, so too can mind and heart. Similarly, as one's being opens, the body is able to let go of tension patterns and restriction. As these holding patterns release, more freedom, calm, clarity, and confidence can easily arise. This is a process of opening. Opening the body to ease of being in movement and in stillness and opening oneself to experience more peace and ease in life.
Intro to My Bodywork
The sessions I offer are unique to your specific goals and intentions. Based on your needs, I will use a combination of transformational, hands-on bodywork techniques and approaches drawing from Structural Integration, Visionary Craniosacral Work, myofascial release, Neuro-Muscular Therapy (trigger points,) and others. Sometimes somatic awareness practices, psychotherapies, meditation and yoga therapies are used to support you in the balancing of body, mind, and heart. As your body and awareness open together, deep healing emerges.
I grew up in the mountains of Idaho as the son of two chiropractors and holistic health care advocates. From day one with my parents and through my studies of bodywork, yoga, meditation, qigong, martial arts, psychotherapies, plant medicine and nature, my understanding of wellness and healing is ever present and continuing to grow. I graduated from The Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork in Kauai, HI where I studied the traditional 10 session series of Structural Integration (myofascial bodywork akin to Rolfing) with master teacher, bodyworker, and psychotherapist Lee Joseph. After graduation, I assisted teaching bodywork, massage, and meditation at the school. During that time, I received my advanced certification in Awareness Oriented Structural Integration and worked intimately with my mentor and friend, Lee. On Kauai I also studied Connective Tissue Therapies (injury rehab), Neuro-Muscular Therapy (trigger point work), and Swedish Massage as well as various psychotherapies derived from Hakomi, Gestalt, NLP, Hypnotherapy, and others.
My ongoing study of healing and growth has taken me to Berkeley, CA for Visionary Craniosacral Work with world renowned teacher Hugh Milne, as well as spending time with Advanced Rolfers and bodywork rockstars Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains, KMI) and Til Luchau (Advanced Myofascial Techniques).
This spring of 2016, I’m grateful to the the honor of returning to Kauai to teach three months of Structural Integration at the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork. My work can be on a session-to-session basis and I also enjoy the depth and growth with a client that multiple session series can create - more lasting change in the direction of ease and greater function, both in body and in one's being and lifestyle. I am passionate and dedicated to the release of my own limiting patterns, physically and otherwise, so that I may live a more free, full and vibrant life. Through my own experiences of healing and growth, I am more able to support others in experiencing this for themselves. I see healing as a fascinating, life-long journey that more than “work,” is an intrinsic part of my life.
In addition to practicing bodywork, I am a certified yoga instructor and can be found teaching weekly classes at the Yoga Pearl in downtown Portland. When not doing the "work", I enjoy time with my daughter, climbing, being in nature, making music, and celebrating life in whatever way This Present Moment offers itself.
